slip into something a little more comfortable
by Georgia Dawkin and Kendall Sweeney
showing at the Tina Dolter Gallery, NL 2024
slip into something a little more comfortable is a collaborative exhibition by artists Georgia Dawkin and Kendall Sweeney. This exhibition examines themes of gender stereotypes, societal expectations and power imbalances within personal and professional settings through humorous dialogue and fashion. This body of work questions the illusion of comfort from social conformity, as well as gendered stereotypes of power through clothing. The combined imagery of business attire and lingerie sets communicate the dynamic expectations of women’s wardrobes while personifying different notions of power\empowerment through clothing.
